Hello, world!

This blog is a place to think in public about how family and work intersect.

I am a physician with two specialties, emergency medicine and medical toxicology. I am also a father. One year ago I left full-time academic medicine to become director of webPOISONCONTROL and to develop my startup, Ariadne Health. I still work clinically half-time at Weill Cornell and do research.

At the same time I am raising a daughter in New York City, navigating public or private schools, the world of educational consultants, whether to redshirt, how to balance the needs of my family with the demands of my work, and how to be a good father while also being a good doctor, scientist, and entrepreneur.
